Ruiz Sors: The purpose of this building is very straight forward, it is a library, and of course its purpose is to provide information necessary for the legislative branch of the government mainly, although the library is open to all people, although not everyone can take books from the library. The library’s architecture is impressive. It does not only make you mind marvel at the detailed paintings and statues but it also gives you a story behind every one of those works of art. On the 1800’s the library started to take life, first when Thomas Jefferson gave laws to the library. Even though the British troops destroyed the library on 1814 and it was burnt down on 1815, the library of congress is the biggest library in the whole world, and within my range of experience, the most beautiful one. In 1852 the congress gave in a budget of $168,700 to help re construct the lost part of the library. In 1876 the library was shoulder by shoulder with the Boston Public Library as the nation’s biggest library. In 1897 the library moved to new headquarters and had over 840000 volumes. From then on the library just grew and grew. The Library is extremely important to the government because almost every question can be answered there; ok maybe not but I can say it helps soften out the pathway to the answer in unmentionable amounts. Perhaps. Anyways, in what way is a library not helpful? The books that the library provides are there with the finality of providing the congress the knowledge that they might lack in a certain situation or area. The library contains 147,093,357 total items and is still growing.
